How much easier life is with Your shield to cover and protect.

It is my belief that the sins of any person are not mine to judge or act upon. God tells us to love all and leave the correcting to Him. The only person I have to work on is me.

Cruelty, Lord, comes in many forms, not just the physical, not being understood, being ignored, being made fun of, it is easy, Lord, to feel these when done to me, harder to realise when I do it to others. Be my strength.

Once I knew this, became a believer everything changed for me. This change was not visible from the outside but it altered the way I felt about everyone and everything, it altered how I dealt with every day. It also means I have kept growing and learning every day since.

At this time I am walking the the last stage of life on this earth with my mother. We are already in the 'valley of death' in that she will not get better. Lord give us strength and comfort.

My first thought of this is lying flat on my back on a warm summer day gazing up into a clear blue sky, but when I think laterally 'green pastures' can be any part of life that goes easily and well. No matter what is going on around us or where we are there are 'green pasture' moments, hours and days. Look for them, appreciate them and remember them.

Every minute of every day is under the Lord's care. This does not mean I do not have any responsibility for my actions, it means that I can be sure the Lord is watching over me and knows if I try to keep to His rules. Do not be fooled or dazzled by the material things of this world, nor be envious of those who seem to prosper when they do not obey God's word, God knows all and only he can be judge.

It is not the things of this world that are sinful but when the desire for them becomes the main aim of one's life with no thought for how it affects others or that it goes against the rules of God.

What a relief it was when I finally realised that God's way of peace was the way forward, instead of the fighting and striving. Let each day unfold as God would have it. In the everlasting world our existance on this earth is as brief as the life of a butterfly.

God is faithful to His believers all the time. There is nothing he cannot do but this does not mean that the solution I think is the right one is the one He will act on. Faith is knowing that no matter what happens, God is there working for the good of all his people.

This life is a preparation for the next life. The lessons learnt and spiritual insight gained is of much more importance than trappings of this material world. If you set your goal as a bigger house or faster car as the thing necessary to make you happy you will discover once you have it that this is not so.

To me this does not just mean material things. We can 'borrow' another's time or energy, if we fail to do what has to be done someone else has that task to complete.

Resign in this case means give willingly, freely, not grudgingly. Not being envious comes easier with age.

Forgive the times I fail to do Your work, when I say what I want to say not what You wanted said, when I do not do what You want done, when someone leaves without the understanding they wanted. If your happiness depends on the material things of this world you can very easily become unhappy. It is true that they can make your day to day living lots easier but they must not become your goal. It seems the more material things you have the more you need.

It may seem that the people who do not use God's instructions on living profit from their deeds but it is only temporary. In the end they will discover that material things do not bring happiness or peace.

It had been my intention to do a quote for everyday of the year, and I will, but my mother is ill and I have to travel half way around the world. I do not know how long I will be away but I shall continue on my return.
